NSW Department of Primary Industries
The NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) is the largest rural research provider in Australia with over 600 scientific and technical staff, along with 13,000ha of trial sites. Our purpose is to increase the capacity of primary industries and communities to drive economic growth across NSW.
DPI has a dedicated education and training program to develop the capacity and productivity of the agricultural workforce to meet the needs of a changing workforce sector. Our registered training organisation, Tocal College, is a leading Australian provider of specialised training to rural industries offering courses for school leavers, short courses for landholders, and online diploma programs.
The DPI Schools program has been established to connect students and teachers with primary industries to grow their understanding of industry practice, skills and careers. It does this by delivering teacher professional development and learning experiences and developing interactive teaching resources that showcase research and development, industry practice and careers.
