Workshop: Urban Experiments
In this video presentation, Stephen Forrest from Murrumbidgee Regional High School is going to look at “urban experiments.” There are three topics, One, issues and challenges that link back to the Board of Studies syllabus, particularly Years 7 through 10. Two, creating experiments that can be done at home with a minimal budget, and stuff that you can find at the bottom of your kitchen drawer. Three, examining suburbia or utilizing the kid’s home and surrounding area to their advantage.
I’m currently a science teacher at Murrumbidgee Regional High School in Griffith New South Wales. I’ve been working there (and formerly Wade High School before its integration with Griffith High School) for six years. I’ve been teaching in the Riverina region of rural NSW for close to nine years. I currently teach stages 4 and 5 science as well as stage 6 chemistry, but I’ve also taught PDHPE, Maths, Art, Primary School and even Forensic Science.
