BJCE Australia owns the Gullen Range Wind and Solar Farm in the Southern Tablelands of NSW. In 2018, BJCE Australia became an industry partner for the STEM Industry School Partnerships (SISP) Program.
This workshop will explore how schools can develop meaningful partnerships with local industry and the types of interactions that industry can deliver in both face-to-face and virtual settings. Viewers will develop an understanding of the role an Industry Liaison Officer plays and how this contributed to the success of the Gullen Range-schools partnership. Examples are provided of mini-maker activities that can be run in class relating to renewable energy.
Dr Isabel Nelson is a Community Engagement Officer at BJCE Australia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Zoology and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences. Isabel thrives on the opportunity to enable community near BJCE’s facilities in the NSW Southern Tablelands to learn more about renewable energy. When BJCE Australia became an Industry Partner with the STEM Industry School Partnership (SISP) Program in 2018, Isabel became BJCE’s key point of contact for the SISP team. She continues to work closely with local schools and Regional Development Australia Southern Inland to ensure local students receive the maximum benefit from the SISP program, a role she thoroughly enjoys.
